This project is a long-term collaboration between Zheng Bo and DACE (Dance Art Critical Ecology, founded by Rickard Borgström and Rebecca Chentinell).

It began in 2021 in a primeval forest in Dalarna, Sweden, where a dance emerged between five humans and centuries-old pine trees. The work was filmed and presented at the 59th Venice Biennale.

Over the next two years, further experiments continued in the same forest.

In spring 2025, the project unfolded as a live performance in Nuuksio National Park, presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Finland. Small groups of visitors hiked into the forest to witness dances between humans and anthills, mosses, and spruce trees.

The Ballets Russes’ 1913 masterpiece is once again transformed: the dance returns to the boreal forest.
